“Mugwump” Dinner

This dinner is from Quivey’s Grove Stone House Special Sunday Dinner menu served in 1980.

A Mugwump was a Republican who refused to support the party’s candidate, James Blaine,

in the campaign of 1884.  It came to mean someone who cannot decide, who sits with his mug

on one side of the fence and his wump on the other.  At Quivey’s, it is the name of an entrée of

both Beef Buchanan and Pork Fremont, for someone who can not decide which to order.
